Hello 2nd Grade Families!
Here a are a few updates for our classroom!
Last week during our counseling lesson with Mrs. Critchlow and her intern Miss Thompson, our class learned about how to be an active listener. We continued this learning with our buddies on Friday. We worked together to talk about how good listening ties into Habit #5 "Seek first to understand, then to be understood." We read the story Stellaluna and learned that saying something as simple as "I'm a bat" may actually mean a lot more! (Ask your kiddos what it really means!) We talked more with our buddies about how important it is to listen and understand. Each buddy pair created a "Diagram of a Good Listener." Check the blog tomorrow for photos of this fun visit with our buddies!
Be sure to check the blog to meet Miss Bozdeck - she is our classroom teaching assistant. We get to see her often throughout our day during reading, writing, and math!
Here are a couple of things to mark on your calendar:
Wednesday 9/24 is Picture Day AND Be There Day!
Be sure to dress your best and be at school! "Be there day" is our state attendance day and it is very important that all of our kids are at school if they are healthy. We will also take our pictures at some point in the morning.
No School on Friday 9/26! It is a district professional development day.
Friday October 10th we will have our first field trip of 2nd grade to the Magic House! We will need several parent volunteers. There will be flyers and permission slips coming home tomorrow :)
Parent-Teacher conferences are 10/27 and 10/29. If you have not scheduled a conference yet, I will be sending you an email soon to get one schedule.
