SNOW DAY on 1/6/14!

Just in case you haven't already heard, there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow (Monday January 6, 2014) due to the weather. If kids are in the mood to learn something tomorrow, here are some excellent ideas to keep them busy!

Math:
Negative numbers and temerature. Watch the weather together and talk about negative numbers, the temperature, and what happens when it gets to be that cold. You could even track the temperature on a line graph throughout the day!

Science:
(This is my favorite!) Boiling Water Freezes Instantly!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lou1aF8JEt4

Writing:
Have your child use their Winter Break journal to write about the snow day! Did play outside or stay warm inside? Or have your child write me an email and give me an "expert explanation" of how to build a snowman, run the perfect sled down a hill, or how to make a snow angel.

Reading:
Read your favorite winter book with your child! Or you can listen to winter stories on Tumble Books! http://www.slcl.org/kids (Click on books then scroll down to Tumble Books) Then have them email me and tell me all about it!
