Lulu and Milo come to Concord!

Professional author, Kelly Suellentrop, visited kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms at Concord this week! She is the author of the children's book Absolute Mayhem, staring the sister-brother duo Lulu and Milo! The story shows the hilarious stories of the siblings creating "absolute mayhem" on boring days! We got to hear the story read to us and then we even watched a live illustration of one of our own ideas for Lulu and Milo.

Here are a few highlights from the Q & A of her visit:

Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
A: It took me three years to finish it.

Q: Why did it take so long?
A; Three years ago when I got the idea... I started writing the story, but then I put it away for awhile. I wasn't sure what to do next. Then I came back and re read it and REVISED it. Then I sent it to an editor. They gave me some ideas to change the story  to make it better. Then I did a story board to sketch what each page would look like. Then I created all the illustrations. It took me a long time to revise!

Q: Why are some colored and some black and white?
A: I decided I liked both color pictures and black and white pictures. This let me show the difference between the boring days and the mayhem days.

Mrs. Suellentrop even told us how we can illustrate our own "Mayhem" with Lulu and Milo, then send it into her website! Visit her website here: www.kellysuellentrop.com
