We finished up our unit on telling time and understanding time. Second graders can now tell time to the minute, can estimate how long something might take, and know the difference between early and late.
We also spent some more time talking about gravity and forces in science. Today we took a break from science and took a virtual field trip on board the Mayflower! Pretend pilgrims showed us around the deck through a Scholastic video. They are posted below if you want to check out more!
In reading we continued to talk about inference and how we can infer what a character is like based on our schema (what we know) and evidence (what the book actually says).
Remember, there is NO SCHOOL for the rest of the week.
Students brought home a "Thanksgiving Challenge" packet today. If they can bring it back finished on Monday, they will receive a little reward.
Adopt A Family is still going strong. We are up to 130 items! If we want to meet out goal, we need to double that! Our goal is 250 - if we can reach it, we will have a pizza party! Next week we are collecting personal care items: soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, etc. You can also still bring in canned food or any of the other items we have collected so far!
