Weekly Update

Happy Friday 2nd Grade!

What a fantastic week! It was another week of fabulous and fun learning!
One of the most exciting things we worked on this week was our video project. We each had a leadership role: art leaders, speaker leaders, and production leaders. We worked together to create a video for Concord's Leader in Me assembly today. Please check out our hard work! It is simply amazing!

In math we worked on telling time to the minute. Second graders should know how to tell time on an analog clock and write it in a digital form. They also learned what it means to be late, early, and on time. They have gotten really good at telling time and with a bit more practice, I think we will be experts!

For the next several weeks, science and writing are going hand in hand. We are learning to write lab reports like a scientist. We know that we have to be experts in order to write about a science topic. We learned about Forces and Motion this week and how to ask questions about it. We talked about pushes, pulls, friction, gravity, attracting and repelling objects, and even polar opposites of magnets!  We will continue to learn about forces and motions and putting it into writing.

In reading, we continued to talk about making an inference and how it helps us understand characters better. We read several stories about characters that face challenges and what kind of leadership habits they show. The authors didn't use "leader" words like proactive or put first things first, but we learned how to infer which habits they show.

We have also collected 104 items for our Adopt A Family! We are collecting items through December 13th... Please continue to send in canned food, paper products, cleaning supplies, etc. There is also a giving tree that has MANY items still available... it is done online through sign-up genius.
