Below is a copy of the letter sent home today from our principal, Dr. Stryjewski regarding an incident that took place in the area.
Dear Parents and Guardians:
We feel that it is our responsibility to take every precaution in protecting your child while he or she is at school. Part of this responsibility includes making you aware of incidents when they occur. This afternoon around 1:30 p.m., St. Louis County Police notified us that they were pursuing a suspect on foot near Bohrer Park in South County. Because this is within walking distance of Sperreng and Concord, we took appropriate precautions to protect student safety by bringing all students inside and keeping exterior doors locked.
Around 2 p.m., the police informed us that it would be safe to dismiss students as normal at the end of the school day. We asked extra staff to assist with dismissal outside as an additional precaution.
The suspect was never on or near school property at any time. Fortunately, no immediate danger resulted from the search for this individual, and our students continued their normal classroom routines without disruption. I would like to commend our staff for how quickly and professionally they responded during this situation. I feel it is important to share this information with you, and assure you that our staff is prepared to protect your children at all times.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
