Welcome to the Weekend!
Wow we were busy this week! We finished Chapter 3 in math today with our math test. Next week we will work with tally charts and making graphs. We also had our first experience with the "eValuate" test on Thursday. Ask your child about this unique test that prepares them to show what they know on the MAP test next year! Students should be practicing their math facts in addition and subtraction up to 18 every day! There are some excellent ways to practice on the math page of our blog!
We also made our first trip through the writing process this week! We created a never-before-seen creature to help us relate artwork and sports to writing. Check out our anchor chart that shows each of the steps! We also had plenty of time to work on pieces we have already started in our "Awake" folder.
During the Daily 5, guided reading groups are in full swing! Please make sure you are reading at least 15 minutes each night and writing it down on your yellow calendar! Word Study has also gotten off to a great start! Please make sure you check out our Daily 5 page to find ways to practice your word sorts at home! Students should practice their words every night.
In social studies we created maps of Little Red Riding Hoods village! Each map has a key, symbols, and a "bird's eye view" of the village. Check it out!
