This week flew by! And before I knew it, Sunday night was here and I hadn't sent out an update! I'm so sorry in the delay....We are working very hard in second grade. Be sure to ask your kids about their BINGO today! Next Friday we will have our first BINGO celebration. More to come soon about BINGO.
A few things to make note of for next this week:
1. Word study sorts are starting to come home. Please be sure to practice them with your child. There are several activities listed on the Daily 5 page of the blog.
2. I am so excited at the number of kids bringing in devices for Daily 5! Concord is a device friendly school and we welcome students to bring in their electronic devices to aid in their learning. Books and reading apps are an excellent tool for students to Read to Self and Listen to Reading. Just a reminder, devices that are primarily used for gaming or communication (like a Nintendo DS or a cell phone) are not easily used during this time. There isn't much available for those devices that can be used for the purpose of reading. If your not sure, send it with your child and I will take a look at it. The kids have been very good at deciding what is a good learning too so far.
If you child is bringing a device to school, please send it fully charged or let them bring the charger with them. We have a charging station on our classroom where they can plug in their device in the morning if they need to charge the battery.
3. Also - please make sure your child has headphones. Even if they don't bring their own device, they use them for our classroom iPads on a daily basis for both math and reading. They need to have headphones to access some of our technology.
Upcoming Important Days:
